Michael Francis, the Hough Family Endowed Chair in Florida Studies at the University of South Florida – Saint Petersburg, presents “Freedom versus Slavery in the Struggle between Spain and the USA for Florida” which took place after Florida was returned to Spain following the end of America’s Revolutionary War and Spain once again offered sanctuary to freedom seekers.
