Dr. Brent Weisman, University of South Florida After 50 years of archaeological research, we now know that prehistoric cultures have flourished here for more than 10,000 years. Much less is known about Florida\'s recent past. This presentation will survey archaeological studies of the Florida Territorial Period, including tourism and resort development, transportation and navigation, and Florida\'s role in national defense.
