Ever wonder what archaeologists do with everything they dig up at archaeological sites once the fieldwork is finished? Join us for an open archaeology lab to find out!
Learn from professional archaeologists with the West Central Region of the Florida Public Archaeology Network about how artifacts and other archaeological materials get processed in the laboratory so that they can be used to learn about the past. Participants will get the chance to sort through, identify, and clean artifacts and other material from real archaeological sites!
This lab processes actual material from the archaeological site, the goal is to clean, sort, and eventually identify ALL of the material in the lab. We are grateful to participants for helping with this important work!
The lab is best suited for participants over 12 years of age, children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
