Civil War Exhibit Buidling City of Fort Walton Heritage Park and Cultural Center 139 Miracle Strip Parkway, SE, 32548 The Heritage Park and Cultural Center has constructed a new building that will house a Civil War exhibit on the north end of their wooded campus. Opening is schedule for Spring 2011. This will honor the Fort Walton Guard, and will tell an important story of the expression of the Civil War in Florida. The Fort Walton Guard was a militia that was stationed nearby in 1861 before being sent to the western theater of war. Exhibits will feature an 1848 mountain howitzer.
