The monument was dedicated on April 24, 2010 and was a project of the John Hance O'steen Camp 770 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. It is dedicated to veterans who served from the area that is now Trenton county, which was created after the Civil War from portions of other counties.
This monument is one of a number of monuments in a veterans plaza in Trenton, that honors US veterans of a number of conflicts.
