Behind the Scenes Tour of the BAR Conservation Lab

History Bike Gainesville: Voyage to Newnan\'s Lake

March is Florida Archaeology Month so this History Bike Gainesville ride will be focused on Gainesville\'s prehistoric past! Beautiful Newnan\'s Lake is our destination for the ride. We will discuss the sites significance in local preshistroric archaeology and expand your knowledge of Florida\'s rich prehistoric past through hands-on activities that focus are particluar aspects of Native Amerian life in Florida. This will be a destination ride with only one stop inbetween. Estimated round trip is about 14 miles, so a bit longer than our usual HBG tour. We\'ll be traveling along the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail for the majority of ride but if you would prefer to drive to our final destination you are welcome to do that and you can of course still participate in activites we have planned. Our destination will be Earl P. Powers Park (5910 SE Hawthorne Road). If you plan to drive please arrive at the park by 3pm. Meet again at First Magnitude Brewing Company (1220 SE Veitch St.) RIDE BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 2PM BUT WE ASK FOLKS CHECK-IN BY 1:30 - $5 Suggested Donation.
